Wow, can you believe it? Half of the Colosseum is missing! It’s like a piece of history has been taken away. I mean, it’s not like Rome wasn’t already missing a few pieces here and there, but this is just too much. It’s hard to imagine how something so iconic could just disappear overnight. But that’s what happened - half of the Colosseum is gone without a trace. What a shame!
Why Is Half The Colosseum Missing? [Solved]
The great earthquake of 1349 really did a number on the Colosseum, causing the outer south side - which was built on less stable ground - to crumble. A lot of the rubble was then used to construct all sorts of places around Rome, like palaces, churches and hospitals. Crazy, right?

Well, half the Colosseum is gone! It’s really a shame; it was such an iconic landmark. I mean, it’s been around for centuries and now only half of it remains. It’s like a piece of history has been lost forever. Oh well, at least we still have the other half!
