Who Saved Bangladesh From Pakistan? [Solved]
The two leaders of the two wings, along with President General Yahya Khan, met up in Dacca on 3 March 1971 to figure out what to do about the country. Unfortunately, their talks didn’t go anywhere, so Sheikh Mujibur Rahman called for a nationwide strike - no luck there either.
1971 War of Independence: This was a conflict between East and West Pakistan that resulted in the independence of Bangladesh from Pakistan. The war lasted for nine months and resulted in the death of an estimated 3 million people.
Creation of Bangladesh: Following the war, Bangladesh declared its independence on December 16th, 1971 and became a sovereign nation.
International Recognition: In 1972, Bangladesh was officially recognized by the United Nations as an independent country with Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as its first president.
