Miguel Diaz: The protagonist of the series, Miguel is a high school student who joins the Cobra Kai dojo and learns karate from its sensei, Johnny Lawrence. He is determined to prove himself and become a champion in the All Valley Karate Tournament.
Johnny Lawrence: The former Cobra Kai sensei, Johnny has been living in obscurity since his defeat at the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament. He reopens the Cobra Kai dojo and takes Miguel under his wing as his star pupil.
Daniel LaRusso: Daniel is an old rival of Johnny’s from their days competing in karate tournaments together as teenagers. He now runs a successful car dealership and still holds a grudge against Johnny for their past rivalry.
Cobra Kai Dojo: The original home of karate instruction for both Johnny and Daniel, it was closed down after their rivalry ended with Daniel’s victory at the 1984 tournament but has been reopened by Johnny with Miguel as its star pupil.
