Who Defeated Islam In Europe? [Solved]
Wow! Charles Martel really saved the day at the Battle of Tours. He was a Christian leader who stopped the Muslim advance into Western Europe by defeating a huge Spanish Moor army near Poitiers, France. Talk about a hero!
Battle of Tours (732): This decisive battle in France marked the end of Muslim expansion into Europe, as the Frankish forces led by Charles Martel defeated the Umayyad Caliphate army.
Siege of Constantinople (717-718): The Byzantine Empire successfully defended its capital from a two-year siege by the Umayyad Caliphate, preventing further Muslim expansion into Europe.
Battle of Poitiers (732): Another major victory for Charles Martel and his Frankish forces against an invading Umayyad Caliphate army, this battle was fought near modern-day Poitiers in France and is considered one of the most important battles in European history.
Battle of Vienna (1683): After several failed attempts to take Vienna, a coalition force led by John III Sobieski finally defeated an Ottoman army that had been besieging the city for two months, ending Ottoman ambitions to expand further into Europe.
Reconquista: A centuries-long struggle between Christian kingdoms and Islamic states in Iberia that eventually resulted in Christian control over much of Spain and Portugal by 1492, effectively ending Muslim rule on the continent for good.
Europe was defeated by Islam. It was a tough battle, but in the end, Islam came out on top. You could say Europe was “beaten at its own game.” It’s a real shame, but that’s just how it goes sometimes. Oh well!
